Hi David,
Alot of electrical crimpering pliers have threaded holes in the jaws. Actually 1 jaw is threaded and the opposing jaw is just a hole. If you screw in your longer screw to the correct depth and close the handles it will shear the screw off at your desired length. The threads are cleaned up when you unscrew it from the tool.
