I never read the book. You have to realise that the crank acts as a centrifugal oil pump. IF the main-to-rod passages are too big, too much oil can be 'pumped' out of the mains. So I've heard of plugging the passages at the rod end with allen screws and re-drilling smaller holes. But on most small flatheads, it's the #6 rod that goes first. So, plug /drill rods 2-5? since the oil enters the block in the middle, and 2-5 might suck the oil out of 6? Lifters being iron-to-iron, I'd say they should be assured oil. Much discussion, no help?
