It is common to find the engine number used as the VIN on a truck.

One common problem with this is the engine gets swapped at some point in the trucks life so now the number on the title matches nothing on the truck.

This can make it hard to retitle in a state that requires a VIN check.

The model number would have to be WHM and then more letters and numbers like WHMA-48.

The VIN number should start with an 8 or a 9 and be located on the same tag as the model number. If the Serial number is not on that tag move to the frame, and get the number there. Here are some various frame number locations, look these pictures over, and look in the same general area (except in the last three images, those are 60s frames) for the frame number on this COE:
