The question was, Can a Cummins 4BTA, Turbo Diesel be operated without Turbo Boost, and not hurt the engine. Also what degrade in performance can I expect to see. Then I detailed my concept of totally bypassing the turbo.
My question is based on my needs, not the failure rate of Turbos across the board, I dont care. Whether this is practical or a waste of time is not part of the answer. I did ask on the TDR and also got to replies. I have to believe that no one here or on the TDR knows the correct answer. So I will ask Cummins North East, get an answer right from Cummins and then Post the answer here and on TDR so we all can learn if a Turbo Diesel can be operated with Natural Aspiration and not hurt the engine. I need a answer based on facts, no gusses, maybe's or I think so's . To me, this is important. I did not sit up late at night to dream up this question.
