You are only hauling the pin weight( which is praubly 1500 lbs or less depending on the weight if the trailer. The gooseneck better distributes the weight on the whole truck better. You are pulling the rest. With what you describe your truck is fine makesure your trailer brakes work and work well I got a plate down here I would sell that came out of my 99 it is half inch and is designed to be mounted in the bed with the existing bed bolts all you gotta do is put grade 8 bolts in. and spacers between the bottom of the bed and the mounts. which is done rather easily. This keeps it from sucking the floor down when you impact the nuts. It is a rail system with pin in gooseneck and 5th wheel trailer . I will half to look to see the brand but it is extremly heavy $500.00 takes it all I could take it to Iowa. I had to put a fold away because of the Slide in camper. I designed it to be a forever hitch to use in a multitude of future trucks.
