One of the guys on the WW2 Dodge Forum pointed me at it.
There are some images in Fred Crismon's book before delivery, but this is the first one I've seen 'working' I think they used them to carry nitroglycerine from the point of manufacture to the point of use - possibly on rails all the way.
All the ones I've seen pictured are 4 x 2 on Evans Auto-Railer equipment (as opposed to the later Fairmont Hi Rail stuff) and they all have that extra cab roof vent too as the fumes are quite something - apparently.
Maybe I'll win the auction - I just hope I don't find a truck like that as I'd have to have have it. Co-incidentally I spent the day stripping a bent front rail axle from a road / rail trailer I'm going to tow behind my panel van.
