With the relative rarity of these items, wouldn't it be better to swap for the right ones, or sell them and get reproductions?

I hate to cut up something original that could be salvaged.

My original rear fenders were pretty ratty; beyond my ability to repair, or so I thought. But a little here and a little there and they look almost presentable.
