I have 8mm film my dad took showing
his erection crew rigging, raising, & using
a 40+ ft gin pole to build a transmission tower
Gin Poles were used (before air cranes) when you could not get a crane in to do the lifts
probably very few men left in the world today
who know about/have rigged/have used Big Gin Poles
smaller ones are still used in comm tower contruction to make the lifts when the height
exceeds crane working limits
