One of my hood latches came un-sprung earlier this year. Conveniently, a good friend of mine was replacing the stock latches on his '04 Jeep Rubicon with locking latches.
The purists may not appreciate it, but I like the comfort of having modern hardware holding the hood down while towing the M around at 70 MPH.....something that has bothered me for a while.
It wasn't hard to do, just some time, a drill, a grinder to remove the rivets in the hood and the willingness to change...I had my doubts while grinding <gulp>. I think they turned out pretty good now that it's done.
Of note; do not use the existing holes as a reference point while doing this mod. I took all of my measurements from the passenger side for the templates. The passenger side lines up beautifully. I then transferred the templates to the driver's side....which lines up, just not quite as well...oh well. :-(
I put some pictures up at my Yahoo photo account. Please excuse the dirty, 1/2 painted truck and messy garage :-)
