I am trying to keep the original early M37 trans (1951) to keep the PTO/winch for a 360 engine swap.
It appears the original trans input shaft will be ~ 1" too short due to the polysphere bellhousing depth being greater that the flathead bellhousing. BTW: I recently saw a post indicating Ray Suiter/Helitool sells an extended pilot bearing from his V8 swap kit for $50 - which gives the extra 1". I still may need to customize the clutch plate for more spline engagement.
Any experience/pitfalls going this route using an early M37 trans? Thanks.
