Regular hand tools, and a torch, due to the design of the Dodge carrier, There is no critical set-up of the ring and pinion as long as you follow the instructions from lock rite! Be sure to take a center punch and mark items and location before you tear the carrier down, otherwise, you will need the torch to heat up the carrier housing where it threads together and an old PW wheel to bolt the carrier to so it will be easier to hold when breaking the threads loose after heating them up...my first one took about 6 hours of moderate work the second one took 3 hours, the third about 3 hours and so-on..the main time consumer is breaking the threads loods to seperate the carrier housing to remove the spider gears..the lock-rite instructions are very thorough and easy to follow. so as long as you have some mechanical savvy it should be no problem! Plus, you will save some change and keep the better half happy!! If you run into a snag acll me and I will be happy to help over the fone!
