Easiest thing to do to unstick a float is to pinch off the hose before the pump and allow carb to run out of gas. Float will then drop to bottom of float bowl. Then re-start truck, inrushing gas might wash crud past inlet needle.

Many guys have added an inline filter between pump and carb by sawing fuel line with a hacksaw, then installing rubber hose to fit filter. Two problems with that- 1) inside of hose is chaffed by the rough edges of the tube, getting debris into system. 2) you now have fragile rubber hose full of gasoline under pressure....
