V8 vs. Diesel vs. Stock

Can anyone tell me or give opinions about converting to diesel or v8 compared to keeping the stock 230. I have an M37 and my "dream" is to convert it to more of a daily driver. I do little to no off road, some snow plowing and hauling. I basically want to go a little faster, be safer, and modify it to my needs. Any ideas would be helpful. Also, if anyone knows a general idea it would be to convert to diesel , V8, and complete rebuild of stock 230. Thanks for taking a look!
