Your comments make sense, although looking at the oil flow diag in my B3PW drivers manual, it shows the oil flowing out of the oil gallery to the top of the filter then down to behind the oil pressure relief valve, with large volumes of oil flowing to each end of the gallery. (My B4PW has different plumbing). I found it hard to visualize that much oil branching from a large dia gallery and going down those small pipes to the filter, the element of which also resists flow. I agree with your oil bath cleaner comments.
