No matter how rust free it is if you are serious about a WC53 Carryall lasting for any period of time I figure you can pretty much count on getting it dipped. The metal in my Carryall is very nice - but when they built it Dodge only painted the stuff you can see. The insides of the panels and doors were left bare to the elements. Up here in the land of rain I do not thing leaving that metal bare and covering the surface rust is only a stop gap measure. So off to redi strip she goes. That is after I get a couple of more hours in to straightening this and that.
Whatis a fair price for one anyways ? John Smith has sold a few for around the 4500 buck range and I have seen the odd unrestored one go for 10,000. I picked mine up for 2200 and once you factor in the trucking and duty I most likely got it in the yard for about 3500 all told .I figure I did very well. The frame is the cleanest most rust free frame I have ever seen on a vehicle this old . I have seen some real crap for sale at around 4500 bucks ( lots of rust ) but who wants a pile of rust for that price ? Or the work ?
take care
