OK, I'll bite. Woof. First your starting with something that is a minimum 30 to 40 years old. In stock form it had a great 6 cyl motor that was perfect for its intended use. That 45 mph was the rare run to town over country roads. Sustained high speed was not what commercial/farm equipment was purchased for. Some of these trucks have survived because they were worked within their intended use. Many worked beyond. They were also the only vehicles at the time that could. Many were worked out. Yes they will do high speed, just as a brick will fly if you get it going fast enough. In the case of a Power Waggon, that will cost you a V8 or diesel. Syncro or auto, power steering, discs, dual master, new wires, hanging peddles, ratio change. No need to factor in a sound system. The factory system does not allow competition. These are not sensory deprivation units. If you really want 85mph on todays interstate, fully equiped camper, climate control with tunes, you will be way ahead financially with a more modern truck. PWs can be improved and made much safer for todays roads. They have already out lived the lifespan of anything that is being made today. Most of these trucks are in the 50 year bracket. With care they can all do another 50. They were designed for a different time. They have earned respect. Appreciate them for what they are. Do your best work and enjoy. When you open the door, you climb up into the past. Not so bad. It was actually quite a nice time.
