Ed: I went through that process several years ago! When I was grinding under my truck, with both safety glasses and a face shield in place. I somehow got a spark in my eye, despite the precautions, and when I finally went to the doctor several days later (I thought it would work its way out), he told me the metal had rusted and that a "procedure" would have to be performed, that of grinding out the rust spot! After removing the piece of metal, he ground away, for what seemed like an eternity, and to this day, I still see a little black spot if I try to inspect anything tubular. The damage was dead-center of my eyeball! I remember him telling me not to move, don't blink, eyes wide open, etc. At least he numbed the eyeball! I had to drive home facing the setting sun, and had to pull over several times because I was getting blinded in my undamaged eye. Not an experiece I'd want to repeat. Dave Maher
