Try shorting the cylinders- pull the plug wires one at a time from the dist cap to find which hole is the bad one, may be one journal is ground undersized? Or the rod cap didn't go on straight?
Improperly installed Cam bearings can block the oil hole, thereby starving itself of oil. But I don't see how it can cause loss of oil pressure.....unless whoever put the cam in did it while block was in normal orientation, when the cam is slid in the lobes are pulled down by gravity and scrape the bottom side of the bearings- just where the oil hole is. The scrape can let the oil out, causing loss of pressure. You should put the cam in while block is on it's back end, lowering cam in vertically, usually before putting block on engine stand. Or block upside down, so you can guide the cam from the bottom side.
Maybe if you find an oil leak, the knock will go away? Try doing an oil pressure test- pull the pan, put pressurised oil in through the sending unit hole, look for where the oil comes puking out from. You'll need an oil tank for that, maybe a freon tank?
