Because the Cougar is now protected it's population has exploded and forced the cat into residential areas. The mountain biker(s) killed was in a urban park, not far from my house and he was the second person attacked in the same area by the same cat. I have seen these cats close up, they are agressive towards humans and a real danger to children even when the children are in groups. I wouldn't "hunt" them with a camera, unless you also have a high powered weapon with you, they are unpredictable and powerful and not a kitty to be messed with. I've been stalked by them several times while backpacking, but not attacked, but several others have not been so lucky.
