I'm with Marty, except for the cost, I powder coated an entire frame and all associated parts, brackets etc. for less than $600. Shop around. As for a comment about powder coating not being for chassis, that is exactly what it was designed for. It started in the motorcylce industry as a hard, durable chip resistant (nothing is chip proof) coating. It can be waxed and polished to a high luster finish or left to age as any paint product. One past downside to powder coating is that it is prone to fading if not waxed or coated with a UV protectorant. Newer polymers are less prone to this condition. The Por 15 is more of a backyard product, some finished projects look great, some don't. It depends upon the skill of the applicator and the amount of prep work. The proper amount and type of prep work that is needed for a nice Por 15 coating is the same for powder coating, so if you have blasted the frame you might as well powder coat, the price difference between the two after that point is small.
Many Por 15 applications are not installed properly (placed directly over the rust or applied too thin on marginal frames)and therefore don't last very long and give Por 15 a bad rap. If your frame is not perfect or has very bad pitting and rust and you want to conceal it, use Por 15. If your frame is in pretty fair shape and you want to make it last and not hide it, use powder coat.
