Hey Ron:
I used to work for a shop that had a waste oil furnace. It was great! It took care of our used oil disposal expense, and really cranked out the heat. Really the only disadvantage I can see is that its not the cleanest burning in the world. I know that some furnaces and stoves these days have a Catalytist on them to help clean the air. WHen I get my shop built, Id love to get a waste oil furnace for it.
Another way of waste oil burning that alot of guys do out there is to, take a closed chamber type wood burning stove, CAREFULLY drill a hole into the firepot, tap it, and install a petcock and seal the threads up really well with either nickel welding rod or bronze brazing rod. Then they take and run a line to a metal container. THey fill the container with used oil or whathaveyou, and once the fire is up and running, open the petcock up to where it just drips abit, not too much but enuff to get rid of the oil, and keep the fire going hotter and longer. WIth this setup, you dont want the oil pouring into the firepot, or else it will make for a bad day....
I really like the idea of the oil burner furnace. That solves alot of problems, and will save you lots of cash in the long run.
