rust, the cancer of our trucks

on my 1942 W37 the back of the cab is rusted clean out. i wanted to get yalls opinions on what direction is the best to go. first I thought i would cut out the rust and replace the spots with sheet metal and tach it into pace. but I also have found an old chevy cab that is damn near identicle, i thought I could cut the bottom back half (underneath the body line) off both trucks and swap. ANY ADVISE?
