12 volt conversion

I see in the PIF that the original generator pulley is used on a Delco alternator. Due to the difference in size does the alternator operate correctly? Am I correct in assuming that the shaft sizes are identical?
See OTM Mike, I looked at the PIF first-- if this info had been there, I wouldn't have had to post at all !!
