The best thing for filling holes is a mig welder, solder would just fall thru unless you back it up. I've been doing some lead work on my PW cab though, I got rid of all the pits in my door jamb floor section, I could have used bondo, or spent forever making passes with my mig welder, but I just sandblasted it clean then used lead solder paddled it on then body filed it down. I think vertical surfaces would be much more difficult. I'm going to fill the back of the cab where I welded new metal in with lead also. I fixed a cowl light bucket with lead also, it came out great. Lead seems a little more permanent than bondo to me, although it can be a little tricky tinning the steel. Good luck
