I don't know what years they were made, but I have a 6-volt model on my WDX. The motor/pump assembly is simply mounted in the vacume line between the manifold and wiper motors. It has a diaphram and a set of points that close when vacume falls below a certain point. Through these points, power is provided to the pump motor. The motor is about the size of a heater blower motor. This motor spins a pump and creates vacume by pulling air from the wiper motors. Once the engine builds up vacume again, the vacume overides that of the Trico unit, and its points close and shut off the motor.
