Hi Steve: Yes, you can pull a small to mid- size (22' or shorter) Airstream with a FFPW, but you better stay on side streets and old blue highways. You will be run over and flipped off on any Interstate. You will slow down on any hill, and crawl up steep ones.
To tow a 22' or smaller Airstream on a Calif. Interstate at 55 mph in a FFPW, I'd want a 1960's V-8 that reaches peak torque at ~2400 rpms, front disc brakes, 4.89 gears, 900-16 or 1100-16 radial tires, extended side mirrors, earplugs and asprin. You would be much more comfortable, and only a bit less stylish, towing an Airstream with a 1960's W200 or W300 series PW.
