One other point, make sure the plow has a "float" on it. That helps to if your not plowing 4 or 5 feet of snow at a time. It stops the chatter bumps.
Im sure your snow is like ours, Sierra Cement, very wet. Chains for us is mandatory. All 4 is even better.
If your defroster doesnt work great, you may also consider using a fan blowing directly on the windshield. Headlights are also nice. We didn't have them for years, so someone would have to sit on the fender, straddling the headlight, with a flashlight to get us home when it got too dark. We had to ro-sham-bow to find out the unlucky soul stuck on the fender
