Split Manifolds on a 251

Has anyone put split manifolds on a 251? Is it worth it? Is loosing the heat riser allowing warm air from the exhaust to intake a big deal? Are there standard headers that lead to dual exhausts or do these have to be custom made?

What other performance upgrades are available?
