Dimmer Switch

I got the Power Wagon Photo History for Christmas and noticed on page 67 is an interior shot of a FFPW. There is what appears to be a dimmer switch mounted on the floor just in front of the seat. I have noticed a mounting hole in the removable section of my floorboard at this location but there isnt anything mounted there nor has there ever been. Is this an early location for the dimmer switch and then moved it up onto the sloped section of the floor? It dosent seem like a great spot for a dimmer switch.
