Huh? Chart on pg 8 is a graph, not a scale drawing

None of the pics are to scale, they are exagerated to teach a opoint. "Never scale drawings", draftsmen can get artistic.

The graph on pg 8 must be what causes your consternation. It shows the relationaship in degrees between the information on each perpendicular axis. It is called a Nomograph, a graph used to put a name on the answer to a question. In this case, "what is the angle of these dimensions". Since the extreme driveline is only 15 degrees instead of 90, the draftsman opened up the angles to make it easier to read.

PS, that chart is a simple way to figure angles with a tape measure. Other than using trigonometry tables, or an expensive protractor. Ain't mathematics wonderful?
