Just picked uo some NIB/NOS brake parts for a planned W100/200 project. It was explained to me that these parts were purchased years ago for a rear axle brake job on a '69-71 W200 and it looks like the EIS shoes and spring kits will work fine on my earlier '63-68 W200 60 rear. My EIS parts book shows the drums I got are for '70-71, and a different # for the earlier Sweptlines 200s - anyone know the difference, is it the hub or backing plate or....?
I know that the smart thing would be to pull down my spare '65-68 rear brakes, measure and compare, but this project won't start till next Spring at the earliest and one of you guys/gurus must know!
I'm now just collecting parts to build a 6-1/2' stepside swb w/big knuckle 44 front and 60 rear and auto trans - for a driver that will deliver far better gas mileage than my W300s, and a pickup my wife and daughters will be comfortable with! I just wish I'd kept one of my crewcab frames to shorten up - anyone near Maine have a solid swb early '60s stepside - even 2wd might be considered?
Thanks and Merry Christmas,
W300(and I guess now W200 too)Joe
