As I understand it, and I have been wrong a few times...

our Dodge truck engines had hardened exhaust valves and seat because they were introduced BEFORE LEADED GAS WAS (or so I'm told) So in theory they should run all day on unleaded.

However, modern unleaded has no 'upper cylinder and valve lubricant' content at all, so although the UK is full of Dodge engines running on unleaded, when we rebuild them here we normally get the inlet seats cut and replaced, plus all the valves and guides, just to make sure of no surprises.

If you are running it without a big load or a load of revs it should last a long time, but consider getting the valves and seats done when it does give out. I wouldn't go tearing into a good engine to do that though.
