Wow, what a question. I have thought many times what would be a "perfect" truck, and thus my 77 power wagon came as close as I could get, and still be within my budget.
Probabally I would start with a WM300 frame, and shorten it to accomadate a custon short bed (check out Gov. Mule Oct. 99 fourwheeler, combined with the war wagon built a few years back for an idea) I would use only the wm300 cab and front clip. the engine would be either a 318 stroker (318 block, 360 crank, 340 heads, etc.) with a RV cam and fuel injection, or a 426 hemi, built up with tons of HP. I want to say that I want the NV5600 tranny, and actually, I will. this would be backed by a 203/205 dual transfer cases. I think I would have some custom springs made by national spring, with some extra long doetsch shocks, 2 per wheel. I would do a shackle flip in the rear, using the new Downey (yes toyota) shackles. following that I would have a dana 70 rear, and a dana 60 front, both with deep gears and that new command trac locker (you know, the electric one).
for inside I would put in a custom 99 dodge dash, complete with leather. there would be a kick ass stero, and leather, leather, leather. A in cab cage, and who knows what else. I just would love to see one of these built, one that I could off road in moab utah, or on the rubricon trail. One that could hit the dunes of silver lake michigan, or go deep in the mud bogs of florida, all the while beathing everyone in their path. I guess, just a dream truck.
