I'm getting ready to attend my 50th high school reunion. I danced for hours to Jimmy Dorsey's "So Rare" a while back when I was young.

Now, folks who cannot hum even a few bars of that tune play their version of it when it suits them.

I disagree with Keith. According his modest admission on to the web site, Paul Russell is just about the smartest purveyor of classic vehicles we may ever encounter. I believe that and I think he's smart enough to really know what they have.

If it suited him, Mr Russell could look in the same military publications the rest of us have and know that - here I agree with Keith - this is a WC-53 and more than 11 were built. He would also know that the WC-53 did not come with a winch. And he would know that these publications do not list a WC-43.

But when Mr. Russell counts on finding a buyer who really wants to dance to the "So Rare" tune, he has to adjust those facts.

If you you are a buyer who wants to dance to Mr. Russell's version of "So Rare" it's important that you not know as much as he claims to know. If that's your favorite tune, it's important for you to pay $55,000 for this truck. And, while you are at it, you'll do the WWII "nose art" bit and paint the truck's name, "So Rare" prominently where it will be seen by all who you want to impress.

Hey, maybe the hidden CD player plays "So Rare" in an endless repeat.

Here's an example of what we should call a "built" truck. A "built" truck has been put into good running order with appropriate upgrades or modifications to suit the owner's needs and preferences. In most cases, a "built" truck is better than a "restored" truck when function is the goal.

On the other hand, a "restored" truck can be as good as new, but it cannot be better than new. A "restored" truck has all the good and all the bad features that were designed and built into it originally. Let's use "restored" for what it means - put back to ORIGINAL.
