I have to agree with Norm's thinking.
In the big picture there are a whole lot of people out there who simply should not be driving cars. It is too complicated a device for them to comprehehend, and its controls exceed their mental capacities for one reason or another. In short, they are too feeble or too stupid to be driving a motor vehicle.
As to the feeble, well, I'm sure there will be a few cursing me as my years become more 'golden'. In today's world it's a huge challenge to motate without a vehicle. That is, regardless of abilities, you are hard pressed for an alternative!
1 out of 1,000 may be saved from a car fire or drowning by being ejected from the vehicle: but the other 999 are saved from a toe tag because they wore their seatbelt.
I'll keep wearing mine, especially after some of the more memorable events I've had behind the wheel racing and off-roading, and both.
