The most durable, top of the line, drill presses and bandsaws will be older Rockwells, variable speed presses. However be aware that most of the older, bullet proof shop tools that are American Made, will be 3 phase powered and it's hard to impossible to find 3 phase residential power. There are converters to single phase, but they are not cheap. There will be, "notch down" in quality tools, that are single phase and American made, by Rockwell and others, so watch e-bay tools and read the ads carefully.
While Rockwell makes the best drill presses, there are other companies who specialized in certain types of tools, so it really depends upon the tool as to which company has the top quality for that particular tool, such as Skill circular saws, Milwaulkee small drills, or Rockwell, vertical band saws. Horizontal bandsaws are manufactured by several Midwest tool companies, the names which escape me at the moment. Drop me an -e-mail.
