I called Gillespie Coatings(they are out in Longview, you can get the # from information, I don't know what I did with it) when I got ready to paint Kims truck. The guy I spoke to said the only benifit to putting a hardner in would be that it would add a little gloss effect to the finish. He advised no hardner, just cut with 20% xylene and shoot it. I'm no paint expert but I thought the hardner might make the finish last a little longer out in the Tx. sun, thats why I asked about it. I went with his suggestion and after a couple of years of sitting out in the driveway it has faded some but nothing terrible.
By the way I used the early WW2 lusterless OD green on hers.
