In the 50's the CIA did train foreign nationals from somewhere in the far east. Possibly Thai. In doing my research for the West Yellowstone Base, I did quite a bit on Camp Hale. The local people here in eastern Idaho and western Montana for the past 60 years did not understand for what the Base was intended, nor why it was shut down. It can always be debated if a military base is good or bad for an area in the long run. But, I would rather be a part of history, than missed out on it. I think in the long run our area missed out on the potential of world class ski areas that former members of the 10th Mtn Div created after the war. We have the mountains, just no one with the forsight to develop them. Tom
