If you plan to use your winch, a shorter length of cable on the drum tends to be more useful than a longer one. This is because you lose substantial pulling capacity with each successive layer of cable on the drum, meaning that your winch can pull much greater weight off the first wrap than say the fifth wrap. I would opt for 150' or less on the drum, and then take another 50' and make a separate cable with eyes on each end in the event you really need to go out to 200+' to winch something. This way, you are working off the lower wraps of the drum, but have the extension piece if you need the length.
