Doesn't sound too serious to me. I'd just scrape off what can be scraped off and wipe off the rest with a damp rag or q-tip. I'd be wary of adding any other chemicals to the inside of a camera. If any of it got down in the works, any kind of salt, acid, or alkali can attract moisture and cause corrosion, and it doesn't take much to eat through the traces on a printed circuit. Lastly, the AA battery goo is alkaline, like baking soda, so soda will do no good at all towards neutralizing it, unlike with battery acid.
