I used to get my "TRAINS" and "MODEL RAILROADER" magazines in, shall we say, "pre-owned" condition.
A little detective work provided me with the answer. I looked in my Train Collectors Association directory of members (there are 40,000 or so) and found the names of the members from the next town over. There were about 5 names. I went to the post office, which normally employs local people whom we all know, and asked if the "new guy" was named any of the names on my little list. Sure enough, one name matched the new guy's name.
I had a nice chat with him, and he admitted having read my magazines, because he could'nt wait to get home to read his.
I was happy to have provided something useful for the postal employees to do, during their long boring days, when they were supposed to be doing something else.
