I had a large glob of molten metal drop into the open top of my cowboy-boot style safety boots once, and before I could get the boot off, I had received third-degree burns all over my ankle! I was in pain for quite awhile after that, and the safety boots got "trashed", in favor of a more closed top (laced) safety boot. Healed up well, though, not even a scar! Dave Maher
