The Dexter TorqFlex axles to not have springs. The wheel spindle carrier is pressed into a tough rubber like square bushing in the end of the axle. Somehow it attached so it will not pull out. As the spindle carrier flexes up and down, it twists in the rubber material. This design gives a very smooth ride, and each wheel is totally independent in its travel on rough ground. There are others that also use this concept, I believe Dexter was the first to develope it.
