All these long trek trips sound like fun, but for somebody like me, they are sorta out of reach. What my idea is: Seeing that each July I can take the first 2 weeks of the month off work for the changeover shut down, taking a week, and loading up the Power Wagon with camping gear, tent, sleeping bag, some canned goods, cast iron cookware, changes of clothes, spare parts and tools etc, and going on a road trip, stopping at various places in the Northern Lower Penninsula of Michigan, and going all thru the Upper Penninsula. For a good part of the trip, I can take gravel roads, and really, the only interstate travel I would have to take is about 6-8 miles of I-75 to cross the Mackinac bridge going to the U.P. I know quite a few people in Northern Michigan and the U.P, so a place to camp would not be a problem. Also, in the Northern Lower Penninsula, I know a few Power Wagon-M37 guys may be able to provide some 'tech support' in case things went wrong. I know a Dodge guy who lives between 'Da Bridge and 'Da Soo in the U.P. who would be thrilled to death to see me pull up in his driveway with the P.W. I also know a few folks thruout the U.P. and over close to Wisconsin. It would make a nice week trip, with no more than 2 hours max between stops, which should not be too bad. The woods, lakes, rivers and streams of Northern Michigan, as well as some of the 'mountianous' areas of the west U.P. make for some super fine views. Now, all I need to make this trip, is about $10,ooo worth of work done to the truck, and a nice young lady to accompany me on the voyage.
