Since this is going to get wiped clean in a couple hours:
I just finished reading a book on Islam (Islam, a brief history by Karen Armstrong), and, no I am not about to convert. The Islamic religion is not just a faith exercise as it it is the belief that to be a good Muslim, you need a just society. There are more problems between different sects the Islamic faith than there are between the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. The big issue for them is the western idea if church and state being independent. A couple of their leaders have been close to figuring out a good balance but then someone new guy comes in and stirs things up that they need to go back to "the good old days" - they have strayed too far from Muhammed's "true" path. Their religion and society were based on an agrarian(sp?), illiterate lifestyle which does not mesh well with technology. Before any of us start throwing stones at another religion for being backward or brutal, we need to make sure we know about it first. Their God and and the Judeo/Christian God are one and the same. They just listened to a few more prophets after 33AD. However they closed the book and stopped listening to anything else a thousand years ago.
I hope Mr. Bush looks at the results of his "victory" and uses it as a wake up call.
