Earlier I had posted I had found another Power Wagon here in Delta Junction, Alaska. Finally got over to see the owner today and contrary to his claim of it being a "1939!", it is a B2PW. It was owned by the US Army and still has the original markings on the hood and doors, but does not have the power wagon emblems on the hood nor does it have the holes drilled for them. It was a mechanics truck and has the large box on the rear. Overall the truck is in great shape and has a very stout A frame boom. (Bob C., he does not want to sell it right now.) The support posts for the boom are directly behind the cab and have another set of pulleys set up as opposed to just a set of chains. He told me that when the Army got rid of these old rigs in Fairbanks there was a salvage yard that had dozens of them and you could just walk in and take your pick. There was also many old duece and halfs and weasels. The Japanese came in and bought the whole lot and barged them over to Japan for the scrap metal to build their datsuns and toyotas and such. So the moral of this sad tale is that there might be more Power Wagon drivers out there than we realized, but just in a different format.
