Bleeding as you are attempting may get you home but with something that old, you are realistically going to have to go through the whole system, front to back. It will be a miracle if you can get going without taking some cylinders apart.
I just did it to a 37 year old car and the brakes now feel like new. I started with just blowing compressed air through all the lines and out and replacing with new fluid. Then seeing the gunk in the rear cylinders, replaced them with new. Replaced some brake lines and rebuilt the fronts and master, because not available.
To rebuild, I used to power hone but have found that finger cleaning with 280 then 500 grit wet/dry paper does a decent job. Wash hands often and clean all crud off all parts (pistons) and wash with the right solvent (Brakleen etc.). Rebuilds may leak in a few years, but that's o.k. Time to do again.
