A 1950 PW should have an unvented cap on the oil fill tube. The oil fill tube should have a port with female pipe threads. There is suppose to be a 7/16"(?) tube running from the port to the upper part of the carb. On the passenger side of the engine there should be a tube running from the back of the block through a PCV valve to the intake manifold. Air would go into the air filter, through the top of the carb, through the 7/16 tube to the oil fill tube , into the block, out of the back of the block on the passenger side, through the PCV valve, and into the intake manifold.

Many other Dodge vehicles had the same engine with a diferent fill tube and a vented cap. On the passenger side of these vehicles there is a tube that goes from the back of the block to the bottom of the engine bay. On these vehicles the flow of air over this tube created a vaccum like a carb. Air came in through the vented oil fill and out trough the draft tube.

It is not uncommon to have the wrong fill tube, the wrong cap, and a draft tube instead of the PCV valve setup on a PW due to a engine swap.

The PW setup works better than the other setup at low speeds and during stationary work.
