The remover you need is one that puts pressure on the back of the wheel as well as the center post. It is the same style that you would use on the older CJ's. I have one that has three different inserts for different size steering columns. I'm not sure what it would cost to ship it to you and back to CA but you welcome to borrow it. I don't remember exactly which supplier it was but one had a good deal on the same puller that I have. They were selling it for about half what I paid at Archer Brothers Jeep parts. It might have been VPW.
Start applying Liquid Wrench to the post now and when you get a puller it will be ready to go.
