It stems from the natural tendancy of one to want to mess with people's heads, as they tailgate behind you because you are moving slower than they think you should be, by indicating your turns with hand signals, which really confuses them and causes even more anxiety on there part in response to your relatively slow rate of travel. See, simple concept.
